This series is full of oddities and unanswered questions, particularly The Doctor's Daughter, Midnight, and Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, but that's far from a detraction. And, as usual, the wonderful writing of Russel T. I admit I was among those skeptical upon hearing about the return of Donna Noble. If anything, these episodes are the spice that keeps the show from ever growing stale. Davies and company dispelled my worries immediately. The dynamic between Donna and the Doctor is a fresh change from the previous two companions and more often than not hilarious. Conversely, the end of this series is redoubtably one of the high points of the entire show thus far, culminating in a climax that encompasses characters from the first three seasons and even the Doctor Who Spin-offs. If nothing else, this season is worth it for the finale.
Its a great show. But, Does a series differ from a season. Since I don't know I quit buying BBC stuff.
I'm torn between love and love-hate for this series. Donna is fantastic, and she and the Doctor are wonderful beyond words. All the episodes are great ("Turn Left" is probably my favourite) but it's got such a darker tone to it that I can't always enjoy the episodes the same way. Still, it's the Doctor with Donna--brilliant.
A fantastic installment in the new Dr. Who series -- but this price is unforgivable. The UK version of the DVD set is selling for only £20 or so -- roughly $30 US at current exchange rates. Give us a break, BBC.
She is a great foil to his wit. The writing is wonderful. This is one of the very best of the new Doctor Who seasons. (Almost a spoiler coming up) Though her character is taken care of amazingly at the season's end fans do hope for a reprise as the other assistants have been. The subtly of character development is one of the joys of the series. Donna is a great assistant to and for the Doctor. If you own any of the other seasons this is one you will not want to leave out.
